David Bertie BA, FTCL

David Bertie B.A, F.T.C.L is Director of the Youth Education Scheme.  David, who was previously Musical Director of the Sherborne Town Band, trained as a musician at the world famous Kneller Hall (the Royal Military School of Music) for army musicians.

Since retiring from the army David has developed a career as a trumpet player working with, among others, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the Mantovani Orchestra.  

David is also a full time brass teacher working at Downside Abbey, King’s School at Bruton, King’s Hall at Taunton and also with Somerset Music, the county’s music education service, where he has been a pioneer of the very successful “wider opportunities” scheme for young children.
